Directing (Service hours: 2) Ages: 14+ Mondays: 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 p.m. Class ends April 26, 2027 Instructor: Eastin Kandt COST: $60 per Month Supply Fee: $25 How do you direct actors? How do you block a show? Eastin Kandt, who has directed a number of shows at CSDC, will give students the tools and skills they need to analyze a script and get it on its feet for performance. Eastin has been part of CSDC as a student, a volunteer, and a staff member since 2014, and has worked professionally as an actor and a stage manager in Atlanta and San Antonio. She will share her extensive knowledge with students to help them get started in directing. Using practical applications, Eastin will teach the essentials of how to get the best from a cast in a method that’s easy and fun to learn. Students will act in scenes in class to give everyone a chance to practice directing and will also work with Playwriting and Acting and Stage Movement students to produce a staged reading in the spring of potential scripts for summer CSDC’s 2027 New Play Festival. Taking the class does NOT guarantee the student will direct a play in the New Play Festival, but it is a prerequisite to applying to direct in the Festival. NOTE: Some rehearsals outside of normal class times may be required. The full schedule will be put out in the fall.
