(Service Hours: 3) Great films don’t just happen—they’re built by a dedicated crew working behind the scenes. This course is designed for students who are more interested in learning film through a technical approach to a variety of genres and styles rather than in-depth screenwriting and acting. From cinematography to sound design, lighting, and editing, students will learn what it takes to bring a film to life from behind the camera (however, there will still be plenty of opportunity to act in front of the camera as well!). Throughout the course, students will explore the essential roles in a film production, including cinematographer, editor, sound designer, storyboard artist, and of course, director. They will experiment with camera movement, lighting setups, shot composition, and audio recording techniques to create visually and technically inspired projects. By the end of the course, students will have had a turn “wearing all the hats” in contributing to several collaborative short projects. Film Troupe
